Preparation :
- Before placing the kadai in gas flame heat given quantity of water till it gets rolling boil.
- In a wide bottom pan heat oil, add Urad daal once it turns golden and you get nice aroma add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and Curry leaves.
- Add green chillies (slit into half), finely chopped onion and cook till it is soft and light golden.
- Add finely chopped tomatoes and saute for few minutes. Also next goes in the fresh green peas which take few minutes to get cooked.
- Add salt and Mix them well. Now reduce the flame to low at the time of adding semolina/rava.
- In a Simmer fry the rava for 2 minutes. You have to keep sauteeing in between to avoid semolina from getting brown.
- Add the hot water and sugar let it cook for 3-4 minutes. Semolina will absorb moisture soon and also will get it cooked soon.
- Remove from the heat and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot vegetable upma with topping of sev, sheera and coffee/tea.
Note:
- One you pour hot water keep stirring to avoid formation of any lumps.
- Rava boiles very soon, So do not cook for more than 3 minutes.
- Before adding sugar check if it has got enough salt, Once you add sugar even though salt is required you cannot feel its taste.
